About Us
The club grew out of an informal group of riders formed in 1994 by Dayboro residents Selwyn Barr and Errol Brough. The men wanted to enjoy riding the local trails with their children, however they were soon joined by other keen locals. The group quickly grew in numbers with the support of Dayboro property owners; and in January 1995, the first meeting of Dayboro Trail Riders Club was held. The club became incorporated and was initially affiliated with ATHRA (Australian Trail Horse Riding Association). In 2011, the club became a founding member of TRA (Trail Riding Australia), an association of like-minded trail riding clubs.
DTR is a friendly, supportive group of horse owners based at our clubhouse at Dayboro Showgrounds. Monthly rides are held from January to November, generally on the fourth Sunday. Rides depart the clubhouse at 8.30am sharp, returning for a leisurely lunch about 12noon. Wash-down facilities and yards are available at the Showgrounds for horses; and showers are available for riders.
Monthly meetings are usually held at the clubhouse on the Thursday evening before the ride. The Annual General Meeting is held each February.
